III. Install and link the reFX Nexus 5 library for Windows

For reFX Nexus 5 on Windows, you unzip and open it to install like a normal application, just leave it as default without further customization.

Download the library at the product page that I provided the link above, unzip to any drive, do not use drive C because it will cause the computer to freeze if the drive is full. You can use an external drive but remember to plug it in first. when opening Nexus.

After extracting, you will get a list of files as below, run the update_nexus_library_location.exe file and you’re done.

Open your DAW , add an Instrument track, select Nexus and enjoy.

IV. Install and link the reFX Nexus 5 library for MacOS

Once downloaded, install Nexus 5 like a normal app.

The Nexus 5 library is compressed in RAR format, and the decompression program on Mac does not support this format. If you do not have a solution, you can refer to the article UnRAR – Software to decompress RAR, 7z files.

After unzipping the library to the desired folder, open Finder, select menu View -> Show Path Bar to display the folder path.

Go to the folder containing the downloaded instrument library, right-click on the path bar and press copy “path”. For example:

Open the setting.json file at the path to edit.

/User/Shared/reFX/nexus

Paste the copied path between the “” marks in the “library_folder” field.

Save, go to any DAW, add Instruments, select Nexus and enjoy.
