I. What is Torrent? Instructions for downloading torrents

The torrent download standard is a decentralized protocol that allows users to share data without the need for a central server. Instead of downloading data from a single server, the torrent protocol operates in a “peer-to-peer” (P2P) manner, in which users (called “peers”) both download and upload data, optimizing bandwidth and reducing the load on servers.

How it works

1. .torrent File: To start downloading a torrent file, a user needs a .torrent file, which contains information about the file to be downloaded, such as its size, file name, and a list of its pieces. The .torrent file also contains a tracker server address that links downloaders together.
2. Tracker: A tracker is a server that acts as an intermediary, managing the list of peers participating in file sharing. It provides the IP addresses of peers downloading the same file, helping peers connect to each other.
3. Seeders and Leechers:

• Seeders are users who have downloaded the file and continue to share it with others.
• Leechers are users who are downloading a file. Once the download is complete, a leecher can become a seeder if he or she continues to share the file.

Sharding: The file to be downloaded is divided into several pieces, and these pieces are distributed from different peers. When a peer downloads a piece of the file, they will share it with other peers. This helps to increase the download speed because a peer can download from multiple sources at the same time.

II. Download qBittorrent software to download torrents

There are many software that can download torrents such as µTorrent, qBitorrent and Coc Coc… However, I personally feel Get qBitorrent to download the fastest and most stable, so in this article I will guide you how to use it.

Go to qBitorrent’s Download page and download the software that matches your operating system.

After downloading, install it like a normal application and open it to prepare for the next step.

III. Download files and folders using qBitorrent

The purpose of this article is mainly to guide you how to download instrument library via torrent method using qBitorrent software. There are 2 ways to download torrent as follows:

1. Download torrent using Magnet link

Click on the link icon to open the Magnet entry form, paste the link you want to download and click OK,

If the Magnet link is correct, the next dialog box will appear with a list of files to download. Select the path you want to save and press OK to start downloading.

2. Download torrent using .torrent

Similar to Magnet link but you need to prepare a file with the extension .torrent. Click on the (+) icon, find the torrent file downloaded earlier.

Similar to Magnet link, this method also displays a list of files to download as above, you choose where to save and press OK to start downloading.

IV. Conclusion

Advantages of torrents

• Increase download speed by downloading from multiple sources at once.
• Reduces server stress as there is no need for a central server.
• Automatically fix download errors, as each download is checked for integrity.

Disadvantages of torrents

• Possibility of reduced loading speed if there are few seeders or many leechers.
• Require bandwidth control, as torrents will use both upload and download bandwidth.
• Security risk, as torrents can be exploited to share malware.
